Cas looked around the room, trying to find someone else who thought this was ridiculous but they all seemed to think it was perfectly acceptable. Where the fuck had his mum sent him? A boy called Basil, yes that was his actual name but Cas couldn’t really judge after all his full name was Casper, was making his way over, trying to catch Cas’ eye.

“Casper, want to be my partner? Midge was supposed to but you know.” He lowered his voice to a comical whisper that was somehow higher pitched than his actual voice. “Time of the month.”

Cas refrained from rolling his eyes, he didn’t want to piss off one of the few semi-normal kids here. Apart from his name and the fact he thought fighting with thin swords was a regular PE lesson Basil actually seemed alright, unlike some of the other poshos who thought it was hilarious that Cas hadn’t even been at a private school before coming to the academy let alone a boarder one.

“I’ve never done it before.” Cas admitted, with a shrug that belied the self-consciousness he felt. He didn’t want to care whether he fit in here. But as his mum was hell bent on making a real gentleman out of him now she’d married Bart he was going to be stuck here for a while. He’d rather have an easier go of it and make some friends then be Billy no mates getting laughed at for eating with the wrong fork or hitting some idiot in a bee keeper suit in the wrong way.

“That’s okay. I taught Midge and she nearly beat me the other day.” Basil gave a smile that revealed his braces. “I’ll help you too. Let’s go get suited up.”

Cas followed him to the wall of padded white suits and hoped they were easy to get into.
